I have many hostas that I have purchased from Tom over the years. I bought my first when he had plants for sale from an off home site on Fairview Ave in Roseville. I recently moved up to Mora, MN, and just like my former home in Coon Rapids, the ONLY hostas in my yard and collection are from Tom Carlson! My plants range in size from Little Mouse Ears to Krossa Regal and many in between! Like many collectors, I fear the dreaded HVX virus, and have no fear when getting plants from Tom. I am in my 70’s and cannot risk it buying plants from another source. I also hope that Tom thinks about reinventing his garden marker business. The nicest plant markers I have come from him years ago. Bob Johnston

This is the only place you can buy a hosta with confidence what the mature plant will be. No doctored pictures, researching the variety then seeking a start in garden stores (and hoping it's the real thing), guess work, greenhouse varieties that are developed to sell and are almost certain to die off in winter. My first Hosta’s were bought from Tom at Hosta’s Direct over 10 years ago. I bought rainbows end, First Blush, Praying Hands, Blue Ivory, and Remember Me all were starter plugs. Since then I have bought many other hostas over the years from Tom at the new HostasMN. Tom is very knowledgeable friendly and always eager to help a person find new and unique hosta cultivars.
I can recall stopping at a small sale with tables, somewhere in St Paul/Roseville area. Then, going to your sales set up on Como. Bought hostas and plant markers there. So, I and my neighbor have been shopping with you for quite a few years. Have been to your home several times. That's the mother-lode of hostas! Looking forward to seeing your yard again.
