Green hostas come in a variety of shades of green.  The green color can vary depending upon the amount of sun it receives, the time of the season, what type of wax it has on its outside, and the fertilizer used.  Chloroplasts that convert light to sugars via chlorophyl, are green.  Thus, hostas green or blue hostas are often the best selection for deep shade.
